Open position for a postdoctoral researcher for the ONE MUNICH Strategy Forum Project – Next generation human-centered robotics and artificial intelligence

The Bavarian AI Chair for Mathematical Foundations of Artificial Intelligence (https://www.ai.math.uni-muenchen.de) at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU) welcomes applications for the position of a postdoctoral researcher for research contribution in and management of the large-scale ONE MUNICH Strategy Forum initiative that brings LMU, Technical University of Munich (TUM), and Helmholtz Zentrum München (HMGU) together on the fundamentals and applications of the next generation human centered robotics and AI.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordination and management of the Next generation Human-Centered Robotics – initiative which aims at building up safe and trustworthy embodied AI not only for Future of Health,
  • Coordination and planning with industrial and scientific partners during the ONE MUNICH project,
  • Co-supervision of PhD candidates and Master’s and Bachelor’s students on projects related to ONE MUNICH,
  • Funding acquisition and management of research proposals (scouting potential opportunities, form consortia, proposal writing),
  • Driving publication of projects results in leading journals and conferences in the AI and robotics community with a particular focus on provable trustworthiness.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in artificial intelligence, computer science, mathematics, statistics, robotics, or a related field,
  • First hand experience in a leadership position in the field of artificial intelligence, computer science, mathematics, statistics, robotics, or a related field,
  • Experience in self-reliant managing of research projects (financial and administrative) including leading a team,
  • Fluency in spoken and written English, German is a plus,
  • High motivation and willingness to work in an international and interdisciplinary team.

The Munich Institute of Robotics and Machine Intelligence – MIRMI (https://www.mirmi.tum.de/mirmi/home/) at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) welcomes applications for the position of a postdoctoral researcher for research contribution in and management of the large-scale ONE MUNICH Strategy Forum initiative that brings TUM, LMU, and HMGU together on the fundamentals and applications of the next generation human centered robotics and AI.

The Munich Institute of Robotics and Machine Intelligence (MIRMI) is a globally visible interdisciplinary research center for machine intelligence, which is the integration of robotics, artificial intelligence and perception. Its three central innovation sectors are the future of health, the future of work, the future of environment, and the future of mobility. More than 50 professors from various TUM faculties cooperate within the framework of MIRMI.
